Wrightsville Beach Junior Lifeguard Program
The Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue Junior Lifeguard Program is committed to teaching the fundamentals of beach safety, first aid, and environmental awareness in a physically active and fun-filled week of activities. The Junior Lifeguards will learn from, and some times alongside, current WBOR Lifeguards, gaining a true sense of the role, responsibilities, and rewards of today’s oceanfront professionals.
Ages 9-17 may enroll. And, every student must be able to swim 100 meters continuously and be confident in their swimming abilities.
Dates & Time:
Maximum of 30 children. The ratio of children to instructor is 5:1.
Campers will receive a WBOR Junior Lifeguard tshirt (included with registration fee) that should be worn for each day. Extra shirts may be purchased for $20 per shirt. Campers are asked, but not required, to wear blue board shorts (swim suits). However, red shorts should not be worn to avoid any confusion between students and Ocean Rescue Lifeguards. Sunscreen and water bottles are strongly recommended.
Unless the weather is severe (lightning and thunder), camp will be held at the scheduled time. In the event of a weather cancellation, that day will be made up on the Saturday of the program week or as determined by the instructor.
The 2017 application is available here. For more information about the WBOR Junior Lifeguard Program, please call the Wrightsville Beach Parks & Recreation office at (910) 256-7925, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
